Bunun Legend of

 Great Flood

its mouth wide-opened, while the crab stuck the snake’s belly with
its sharp claws. The snake tried to bite but could not put a dent into

the crab’s back because of the pot. The two giant creatures fought
fiercely in the flood, generating splashes, until the crab ripped the

snake into two pieces by the belly. As soon as the snake’s body was
removed from the river course, the water level went down. A large

amount of sand was washed away. The snake, cut into two pieces,
resulting in the formation of winding rivers and valleys on the

earth's surface. That was when the Bunun people began to settle in
            the mountains, until today.
