Abstract
With the aim of creating a favorable environment for the industrial
and economic development of indigenous peoples, in this project, current
operational states of indigenous enterprises were collected through a
general survey on indigenous enterprises. Information on the economical
and industrial development needs of indigenous peoples were
comprehensively and systematically collected to form the primary data on
the operational states of indigenous businesses. The data are used as a
reference for the formulation of policies on the indigenous industrial
economy.
I. Basic Information on Indigenous Enterprise Registration
1. At the end of December, 2020, there were 16,475 indigenous
enterprises registered with the Department of Commerce, MOEA.
Among them, 79.82% were registered with trade names and
20.18% were registered with company names.
2. Indigenous enterprises with capital of less than NT$100,000
account for 37.15%; those with capital of NT$100,000–
NT$500,000 account for 42.54%; those with capital of
NT$500,000–NT$1,000,000 account for 3.79%. The enterprises in
these three capital quantity ranges make up 83.48%. Comparing
with the numbers of all enterprises in the country, only 19.37% of
enterprises in Taiwan have capital of less than NT$100,000. This
shows that most indigenous enterprises are small-sized enterprises.
3. Of all indigenous enterprises, 42.77% are located in Indigenous
Areas, and 57.23% are not located in Indigenous Areas. In terms of
the counties and cities in which enterprises are registered, Hualien
County (15.65%) and Taitung County (15.42%) have the most
indigenous enterprises, followed by Taoyuan City (12.46%) and
