1. Number of weeks unemployed: Indigenous unemployed persons were
unemployed for an average of 20.92 weeks with respect to the standard
week in the data.
2. Jobseeking channels for the unemployed: Of indigenous jobseeking
channels for the unemployed in 2019, the highest relative frequency
was for "job seeking from the 111 Job Bank (including the website)"
at 49.35 per 100; this was followed by "referrals from friends, relatives,
and mentors"; "looking at the employment classifieds in the
newspaper"; "looking for a job from a public employment service
(including websites)," and "self-referrals and inquiries."
3. Employment opportunities: 35.97% of unemployed indigenous people
in 2019 encountered a job opportunity during their job search.
Indigenous unemployed people who had encountered a job
opportunity but did not take the job had the highest relative frequency
in "compensation not in line with expectations," followed by
"unsuitable working hours" and "poor working conditions."
4. Major difficulties encountered in finding a job: 64.03% of
unemployed indigenous people in 2019 did not encounter a job
opportunity during the job search; further analysis of the job search
process reveals that the major difficulty encountered was "insufficient
information on employment," followed by "no job opportunities
within the living area," "skills do not fit the job," "unable to find a
suitable job that allows family care," and "no job opportunities outside
the living area," in order of difficulty.
